Some Updates

School holidays have kinda taken over at the moment althought I do have some great new info on the Taylors!!

Between me and Mel we have found the elusive Florrie and managed to find out she was the daughter of George Taylor, who was the son of Jonathan Taylor and Hannah Black. She went to live with Jonathan and Hannah at some point before the 1901 census and helped to look after the children of Frederick Taylor and Elizabeth Ellen Bell after Elizabeth died and Frederick remarried, the children from his first marriage went to live with their grandparents. Elizabeth died in 1906 in childbirth with her fourth child and Jonathan died four years later in 1910. Hannah ran a theatrical boarding house and Florence, or Florrie as she was known, helped run this and look after the kids as Hannah went both blind and deaf. Big thanks to Mel without whom I'd not know half of this!

Tracing the Taylors

Today I have decided to put some effort into the Taylor branch of my tree. I have been flitting back and forth between different branches of the tree filling in bits here and there and not feeling like I have got anywhere really. So am rolling up my sleeves and getting stuck in to tracing the Taylors, filling in the gaps and finding out what life was like for them, where they lived and what it was like in Northumberland and Durham at the time they lived there.

So far I have back to John Taylor who was born in Northumberland, I have no dates but am guessing around 1775. He married Mary Donaldson and their son Moses b1800 is the only child I have managed to trace. By the time the 1841 census was taken he was no longer at home with his parents.

Right now I should be working so I’ll leave it there for now and get stuck in later when I get home (with a little break later to watch a bit of CSI on the tellybox)

Hi all *waves*

Not much genealogy being done at the moment, it's the school holidays and so I'm being kept quite busy.

I'm hoping to write a bit on the Taylor branch of my tree soon but it may be a couple of weeks or so before I get around to it. Damn real life getting in the way of my family history researching LOL

Anyway, if anyone has any pictures of Shiney Row in Sunderland from around the 1920's to 1930's that would be fab if you could mail them to me, or of Murton Street, Sunderland from the same time period.
